Wanting to file taxes I have a newborn though and waiting on his social security card, is there a way?
Is there a way I can go ahead and go to h+r block without waiting the 7-10 days for his card, by either getting his number somehow or through some tax thing? thanks for reading/answering
he was born on december 31st 2009 by the way
When was the child born? The child must have been born by Dec 31, 2009 to claim him/her on your 2009 tax return. If the child is born on January 1st 2010 or after you can claim him/her on the 2010 tax return. Are you sure you need H R Block to do your taxes, have you tried a e-file service instead. Visit IRS website to check out if you could figure out the taxes on your own, instead of paying high fee to a tax preparer. If you must have some file your taxes then find a reputable CPA in your city. Or visit IRS local walk-in office, they file taxes if your income is below $44 or 47K.

hey, this is the 31st of January 2010, had your child been born in 2009, you would have had the SS#
you can’t claim a 2010 child on 2009 return

i had this exact same issue. My daughter was born 12/24/2004. We had to wait on her ss card to come, it come at the end of jan. i tried just about everything, we ended up getting it right around the time we file, by luck. I think you should call ss administration and ask them if you can just find out what the child’s number is.
