What’s the difference among the following three sentences? English learner seeks help?

sentence1: Why don’t you trust me?
sentence2: Why do you not trust me?
sentence3: Why you do not trust me?

Which of the sentences above are correct and acceptable? What’s the difference among them?
Thank you for your help.

Sentences 1 and 2 are basically the same. The only difference is that sentence 2 spells out the words do not;sentence 1 uses the contraction for do not (don’t).

Sentence 3 is totally incorrect; it has the the pronoun, you, in the wrong place. By correcting the incorrect placement of the pronoun, you wind up with sentence 2.

Sentences 1 and 2 are both correct depending on how formal you want your writing(speaking) to be. Sentence 2 is the more formal.

  1. Super Salmon Says:

The third one is wrong. The order of you and do is wrong.

The first two are acceptable. The first being the best.

I would use 1) "why don’t you trust me?" and the do and not are formed in a contraction.

    2) has do and not seperate and still makes sence but not so commonly used.

    3) has the words in the wrong order.
