Should a car with a rebuilt engine be avoided when looking for a used car?
Yes nearly 75 % to 80% of the times its better not to purchase after a rebuild,
the reason is more than half are never rebuilt correctly and you end up having more
problems than a good running high milage car, im 66 years old ,and believe me ive been there
lots of times.specially with older 70s 80s cars.
No if its properly done then the engine will have a new life span ahead of it.

No – generally rebuilt engines are every bit as solid as stock. The question is – why was the engine rebuilt? If there was racing in the car’s past, or it failed due to lack of maintenance, you could be sure that other parts of the car have seen excessive stresses/neglect as well. You’ll want to find out as much information as you can about the car – just to be safe.

depends on who built it

Not necessarily. If it was done by a reputable shop, you’ve got basically a brand new engine.
