Looking for a good space game?

I am looking for a space video game. Something like EVE, but single player. I like Sins of a Solar Empire all right, except I do not want an RTS. I want to be able to control my own ship and engage in battles and such.

Mass Effect 1 and 2, but there are no space battles. Still definitely worth checking out if you like Sci-fi games though.

a good space game i have is dead space, its in space but u dont control ur own ship or anything, its kinda like resident evil only on a spaceship against disgusting looking mutated alien things.

I am not sure if it is what you are looking for but check out Star Craft. It is a MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role playing game..or something like that) I have never played but it is by the same people that brought us World of Warcraft and Diablo. Maybe more than you are looking for but I am sure it’s a blast. I have been wanting to give it a shot but can’t seem to walk away from my WoW account.
