I am at edward jones investment & I am looking for a better company to invest for my retirement. Suggestions?
I am not happy with the office/advisor I am currently with at this time and need to find a new advisor to prepare for my retiremnt. Does anyone have advise? Are fees involved in transfering and what is the best way to go? Thanks
Most all stock brokers and many banks offer these services. You should interview a few around your local area to see if there is somebody you are happy with.For what I (or somebody else here) am happy with may not fit you. Don’t forget to also interview other offices and advisers of Edward Jones. Your new adviser will explain the fees if your particular case.
I use Schwab and a Private investment company
Happy with both. No fees and they handle the transfer.
You stop it at Schwab or Fidelity or call and they handle everything. They either email or fax you the paperwork, you sign and send back.

If your problem is the particular advisor rather than Edward Jones, then I would definitely look at other Edward Jones advisors in your area. There are often several.

You have two choices;
A. Stay with Edward Jones… find another advisor. Edward Jones is an excellent full service broker. Most other Full Service advisors & brokers are much more "commission" orientated.
B. Read some books (like: Mutual Funds For Dummies)……. Once you understand the basics, you’ll save tons of money in commissions. An added advantage….. no one has your better interest in mind… than you.
If you haven’t guessed already….. B is your better choice.

BTW: Fidelity & Schwab are good choices…. but if you deal with them with a broker or private investment firm…. there are high fees (just like Edward Jones and everyone else). With brokers/advisors just because you don’t get a bill… doesn’t mean you’re not paying ridiculous fees.
VERY IMPORTANT: Stay away from banks and insurance companies for investment products.
