I’m not very social and to network is an extreme hard job itself to me that’s just not worth doing. I literally have no networks or never asked for help when looking for a job. Luckily, i got a really good job I got on my own, but I still have this fear in the back of my mind that if I lose the job, i’ll be on my own again.

I can sympathise with you on this one – I am not good at the networking either, in fact nothing turns me off more. I think it is a self esteem issue and that comes across in your post as you say you are afraid of losing your current position. Quite what the solutions is I don’t know, I solved it a bit by looking for work on the internet, you don’t have meet the people you contact you see so it is easier to do. I have to say that my success in doing that (I am a freelance H&S Consultant) improved my self esteem to the point where I can now go to networking meetings without feeling like a total fish out of water. Possibly because I know that not a lot is riding on it because I have work from other directions so I can go just for the socialising.
