What would happen if i bred a father leopard gecko to a daughter gecko?
Im just wondering, would there be any effect of the off spring if i bred a father leopard gecko to a daughter leopard gecko, what would happen to the father and daughter’s off spring?
Nothing:/ This is called line breeding. Unlike mammals reptiles genetics are different. They dont break down like mammals. Ya know how all these fancy morphs came about? Breeding parents with off spring. Its no big deal. BUT its clear you dont know what your doing if you have to ask them. Be prepared for lots of babies coz if they aint fancy morphs your gonna be stuck with babies. Dont mean to sound harsh but if there normals or high yellows you’ll be lucky to give them away.
There may or may not be repercussions. You should not consider doing this unless you have an extremely rare genetic morph…and by rare, I mean brand new and never seen before. Inbreeding for inbreedings sake is very bad.

Inbreeding is very common among most reptiles. It should be fine unless they have any present, noticeable genetic issues. If so, you wouldn’t want to breed them at all anyway. I breed ball pythons and have never had any issues. After a few generations, you’d want to out-cross your line, but I can’t see the harm in one pairing.
