Splendid, …
Splendid, remarkable, gratifying, soul enriching, life changing, ……………………., fill in the blank with the superlative of your choice, for like THE MAN himself says in the intro, “They really are believe you me, as good as it gets!” The same can be said of the Master of Ceremony, Mark Knopfler is, simply, in a CLASS of his own! So Thank You : Leksingen for the upload, You Tube for the space, and M. K. for being the BEST! And Rock On you brothers and sisters on The Emerald Isle!

Usually when I hear …
Usually when I hear the word bouzouki, I think of Greece. There was a bouzouki player in Cambridge, MA (USA) that played the most beautiful Greek music. It was such a treat to hear him. The cross-cultural musical influences are so interesting.

thnx for the info! What i wrote is based on the name of the instrument which is eastern (probaby turkish) and is widespread in my country too. I have no doubt that the Irish made it their own, after all they love music traditionally.

You got me curious, …
You got me curious, so I looked up Irish bouzouki on wikipedia and apparently it was developed in the late 1960’s. It has a flat back and initially most of them had flat tops too. The three Irish musicians known for their work on the Irish bouzouki are Johnny Moynihan, Andy Irvine and Donal Lunny. It’s a cool instrument. My irish bouzouki is basically an octave mandolin with a longer scale neck.

I think he’s talking about an instrument called an irish bouzouki. I play one sometimes. It’s like an octave mandolin but with a longer neck. I think it’s a relatively new instrument. It sounds amazing.
