What percentage of MARRIED 50 YEARS couples never experienced an AFFAIR?
I would guess that in about 85 percent of the cases, one or the other had an affair but they stayed together anyway.

don’t know. my husband’s grandparents have been married for over 60 years, and as far as i know, neither has had an affair. it depends on the commitment of the couple, and their love for each other.

90% thou they did have an affair but still married life has kept on going. What a wonderful thing.

Nope… I do not agree with you at all and I think your percentage is just a guess based on today… not "yesterday". Married couples of 50 years + are from a different generation….one that did not "screw around" as easily as some do today.

you are probably close some on here are a bit naive or just to young and don’t know better that generation was no different then the current it was just hidden and kept very quiet a lot of affairs went on over half at least or just cheated on spouse with a whole but no one talked about it.

older generations didnt take marriage so lightly. certainly affairs have always happened, but not like today. i am sure there is no exact answer for this. you arent going to find some study that has this data, and even if someone tried, could you trust the results? people dont own up to affairs. it is an embarassment they keep in the closet.

Interestingly every generation thinks they were the ones to discover the thrills of illicit sex. Truth is people have cheating in the past and will continue to cheat. Were the numbers smaller back then ? Probably, but due more to the societal pressures of smaller towns where secrets were harder to keep quiet than lack of desire.
Surveys of this age range seem to indicate that the numbers near 50% for both sexes. It is hard to correctly estimate because numbers are based upon those still married so those whose affairs ended the marriage are not included in most surveys.
